William Williams Obituary

William R. "Bill" Williams Jr., 71, of Snyder Street, Shamokin Dam, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

Bill was born April 24, 1952, in Sunbury, a son of the late William R. Sr., and Elizabeth (Shingara) Williams. On June 26, 1971, he married the former Mary G. Kurtz who survives.

He was a 1970 graduate of Shikellamy High School and earned his certificate of diesel mechanics from Caterpillar, Inc.

Mr. Williams served his country in the National Guard from 1972 to 1978.

He began employment with OSER Leasing Co. and was a diesel mechanic with Sunbury Motor Company from 1976 until 1995.

He was an avid NASCAR fan and followed the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State Football. Earlier in life he enjoyed camping. For many years he worked on cars at his home garage. Later in life he enjoyed time at Knoebel's, going for rides in Poe Valley State Park and spending time with his granddog, Benny.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, Bill is survived by two sons, Jason M. Williams of Myrtle Beach, SC, John R. Williams of Selinsgrove; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angelia M. and Jim M. Rising of Muncy, Stacy L. and Terry L. Graff of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Steve and Deb Williams of Mifflinburg, Al and Jill Williams of Sunbury, Ed Williams of Sunbury; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Christine and Donald Heintzelman of Sunbury, Nancy and Steven Troup of Richfield, and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be private.

Contributions in Bill's memory may be made to Hospice of Evangelical, 235 Hospital Dr., Lewisburg, PA 17837.

Arrangements are by the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
